Harry Potter Books and Movies

Reviewed by ashley trevarrow: I FINALLY own my complete set of Harry Potter books! I would definitely recommend them to anyone with love for fantasy reads. My oldest is 32yrs old and I use to buy them as they came out for him. Always had a love for the movies. Now I can finally finish all the books at my own pace. Found a roleplay sim in SL and needed to fill in a lot of gaps to be canon accurate. The seller was quick on delivery and arrived in perfect condition. All books accounted for. Look out Hogwarts! Here I come! Go Ravenclaw :D

Reviewed by Megan: I was never a Harry Potter fan when the first few books came out. I only became a fan when the first movie was playing in theaters. I went to see it in November, unhappily, since a younger cousin had rented a theater for his birthday and cousins my age were going. I originally wasn't happy to be there but that quickly changed as I was hooked within the first few minutes. Later that month I received the first 2 books for my birthday. After reading the first 2 books I purchased the other books available at the time, read them, and then bought the remaining books in the series as they became available. I still have the hardcover books on a bookshelf in my room.

This box set was released as part of the 20th anniversary of the first book being released. I had wanted a boxed paperback set for a while but held off since I didn't see anything that I "had to have" until now. This set is very nice and should be a must for any Harry Potter fan. I did read reviews of other boxed sets and saw some negative comments saying that some books had duplicate pages or even chapters. I looked over what I received and I don't see any of those problems in any of the 7 books. The only negative I have is that my copy of the 7th book has a slight gap between the cover and the first page where the glue wasn't applied as it was at the bottom. I'm not a big reader and I'm careful with my things so I don't think there will be a problem with that area.

What I like:
-The books are a larger paperback size than what I have at home for other books from a different series.
-The black and white covers are lovely and I like the picture all the covers create when they are next to each other.
-The books have the first chapter of the next book at the very end.
-The books seem to be the same size as the ones released individually so if something happens to a book you can easily replace it.
-I can finally use the special bookmarks (pictured, and NOT included in the boxed set) that I purchased to use as I read each book.

What I'm not crazy about:
-The box the books get stored in is made out of cardboard - not the most appealing way to store the books but the box looks great, is sturdy, and it should keep the books in good condition for years to come.

Ok, THIS is how a boxed set should be. I've read some horror stories about other sets being mis-matched discs from previous releases (the X-Men collections) and I've seen the beauty that is The Lord of the Rings Extended Edition boxed set (another thing of beauty.) A truly cohesive production with original artwork on every disc. (When was it decided that Blu-ray discs didn't need artwork?)

In truth, I have only just opened the set and have not even inserted one disc into my player. But I wanted to post something now to get one piece of info out there... How to get your digital copy!

I'd read reviews about the codes being expired, so didn't have any expectations. Having bought the set at less than half price on Black Friday, I didn't care. But, since the code was in my hand, I figured why not try.

The original provider of these codes was Flixster. They have been out of the Ultraviolet business for about a year now. Vudu filled their spot. A very good change, since the Vudu interface on all my hardware blows away what Flixster used to have. So I went to Vudu.com, but no love there. Received a message that the code had expired. Had to try. Then I did a little digging on the web and someone suggested going straight to Ultraviolet's web site, myuv.com. At first it didn't look promising, until I noticed down in the lowest left corner of the screen that there was a link to "Redeem Code." I entered my code, the screen took a moment, then said I'd have to go to Vudu to complete my registration of my code. I thought it was just sending my to Vudu's main screen and that it hadn't worked. No, it directed me to a confirmation screen that the movies had been added to my collection. I've since signed back into my account, and there they are.
